It is a series of software operating systems and graphical user interfaces produced by Microsoft. Microsoft first introduced an operating environment named Windows in November 1985 as an add-on to MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces [GUIs].
Advanced Interactive eXecutive is a series of proprietary Unix operating systems developed and sold by IBM for several of its computer platforms. Originally released for the IBM 6150 RISC workstation, AIX now supports or has supported a wide variety of hardware platforms, including the IBM RS/6000 series and later IBM POWER and PowerPC-based systems, IBM System i, System/370 mainframes, PS/2 personal computers, and the Apple Network Server.
This is a 64-bit operating system for mainframe computers, produced by IBM. It is the successor to OS/390, which in turn followed a string of MVS versions and combined a number of formerly separate, related products. z/OS offers the attributes of modern operating systems but also retains much of the functionality originating in the 1960s and each subsequent decade that is still found in daily use.
Solaris is known for its scalability, especially on SPARC systems, and for originating many innovative features such as DTrace, ZFS and Time Slider. Solaris supports SPARC-based and x86-based workstations and servers from Sun and other vendors, with efforts underway to port to additional platforms. Solaris is certified against the Single Unix Specification.
The platform was first introduced as AS/400, and later renamed as the eServer iSeries in 2000. As part of IBM's Systems branding initiative, it was again renamed to System i.
Hewlett Packard UniX is Hewlett-Packard's proprietary implementation of the Unix operating system, based on System V. It runs on the HP 9000 PA-RISC-based range of processors and HP Integrity systems that are based on Intel's Itanium-processors.
It refers to the family of Unix-like computer operating systems using the Linux kernel. Linux can be installed on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones, tablet computers and video game consoles, to mainframes and supercomputers. Linux is the leading server OS, accounting for more than 50% of installations.
